BME Doctoral Student, Shashank Raina wins dissertation award from the International Society of Biomechanics

Shashank Raina, a PhD student in Biomedical Engineering, is a Recipient of the 2009 International Society of Biomechanics (ISB) Student Dissertation Award. Shashank is member of the Biomechanics Research Laboratory at USC under the mentorship of Dr. Jill McNitt-Gray, a Professor in the Departments of Biomedical Engineering, Kinesiology, and Biological Sciences. Shashank’s research focuses on the biomechanics of the scapula and upper extremity during physically demanding activities done by wheelchair users with spinal cord injury. Shashank’s research is done in collaboration with Dr. Philip Requejo, Adjunct Associate Professor in Biomedical Engineering and Kinesiology, Director of Rehabilitation Engineering, Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center and Co-PI of the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR) Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center for Technologies for Successful Aging with Disability. Shashank will be presenting his research at the XXIII ISB Congress in Brussels.
