IRV = Inspiratory Reserve Volume
IRV stands for Inspiratory Reserve Volume

Let's say you've just inhaled a normal breath (you've inhaled your normal
Tidal Volume). Now, your IRV is the amount of air you can still inhale
until you can't inhale no more.

As illustrated in the figure below, it represents the amount of air
you are still able to inhale after you have already taken a normal breath.
