Partial Pressures of Water Vapor

Dalton's law tells us how to compute the behavior of mixtures of gases, like air, which is a mixture of nitrogen and oxygen.

However, when we are talking about gases in the lungs, we have to remember that water from the body will saturate the air in the lungs. So, to account for this, we have to rememer to include the the partial pressure of water in our calculations.

The vapor pressure of water is different at different temperatures, as dictated by the Ideal Gas Law . Below is a list of water vapor pressures at different temperatures. Know the partial pressure of water at body temperature.
