Use of the BME Alumni Networking Database

Use of the Alumni Database is intended for current USC Biomedical Engineering students.  This resource is designed to allow you to contact BME alumni and other industry professionals for networking and career exploration.  The alumni who have volunteered to be listed on this database are not offering jobs or internships; they have offered to be contacted by students wishing to learn more about potential career fields.

We recommend that you review the list and choose 1-2 alumni to contact.  In your intial contact, explain who you are, how you got their contact information, and request a chance to speak with them to learn more about their experiences in the industry, or at a particular company.  Please be respectful of their time and interact with them in a professional manner.

You may wish to review this Networking tip sheet, prepared by the USC Career Planning & Placement Center.

Good luck!

TIPS

Do:
+ Review the Networking tip sheet before contacting alumni
+ Offer to meet with them in person if you can. (Bonus points if you offer to buy them coffee or lunch!)
+ Use conversations with alumni to learn more about the industry

Do Not:
+ Send an unsolicited resume
+ Blast an e-mail to everyone on the list
+ Start your communication with an alumni by telling them how much you need "a J-O-B"
