Does the BME degree prepare me for med school?
Yes! Biomedical Engineering is an excellent preparation for the rigors of med school. In terms of coursework, the BME degree includes all classes that are considered "pre-reqs" for most med schools except for one (Biochemistry). Past BME students have been able to fit this additional course into their schedule without any difficulty. In addition, the BMEC degree includes all courses that are considered "pre-reqs" for most med schools. To be ready for the revised MCAT (which will start in 2015), students will also need to take an introductory Psychology or Sociology class.
